Rafael Hernàndez International Airport Departures
Security checkpoint
Security screening at Rafael Hernàndez International Airport, as well as at any other airports in Puerto Rico, is provided by Transportation Security Administration. At BQN, there is only one security line, but due to the small number of flights and passengers, the security wait time is usually 1-2 minutes.
Travelers are required to go under the metal detecting scanners, answer TSA officers’ questions, provide valid identification forms, and boarding passes.
Recommendations
Transportation Security Administration (TSA) encourages passengers to arrive at the airport two hours before the departure. Passengers who arrive early can park their vehicles, check-in to the airlines, and go through the security screening without stressing about the time. Another recommendation for departing passengers is to organize their carry-on bags according to the TSA liquid and restricted item rules, to avoid any problems at the checkpoint.
