Valley International Airport Departures

TSA checkpoints

Every passenger, no matter if they are traveling domestically or internationally, must go under the Transportation Security Administration checkpoints. At the checkpoints, TSA officers are standing in front of the scanners and make sure the passengers follow the rules of security.

After the implementation of stricter screening procedures, every passenger at the checkpoint is

asked to remove any electronic device more significant than a cell phone from the carry-on bag and put them in the TSA container for the screening. Travelers also go under the full-body scanner after they take off their jackets and shoes. Transportation Security Administration scanners' primary goal is to detect any explosive item or a weapon. Including guns, there is a long list of restricted items on board, such as baseball bats, knives, aerosol insecticide, and so on.

The full list of prohibited things is on the TSA website. After the screening procedure ends, passengers continue proceeding to the identification of their documents. On a domestic flight, children under 18 are not required to provide any identification document other than a boarding pass. Travelers aged 18 and over must present valid identification forms, such as U.S. passport, U.S. passport card, driver's license, and so on.

TSA Pre-check

For those passengers who are often traveling, the Transportation Security Administration has a unique program known as Pre-check. Valley International Airport also takes parts in this program and has other lines for the Pre-check travelers. People at these lines are not required to take off their jackets, belts, and shoes. They also can leave the laptops in the carry-on bags, while passing the security scanners.

Recommendations

TSA and Valley International Airport administration recommends its passengers arrive at the airport at least 90 minutes before the departure time. Coming 90 minutes early, then the actual flight time will be enough for passengers to park their cars, check-in with the airlines, and go through the security screening. TSA also encourages travelers to organize their bags, keep them uncluttered to ease the screening procedure, and keep the security wait time shorter. If possible, passengers should stay away from wearing a lot of jewelry and metal items.
